Karya is the world’s first data cooperative to bring dignified, digital work to economically disadvantaged Indians, giving them a pathway out of poverty. They empower individuals and communities with fair economic opportunities through completing high-quality data annotation services for AI/ML clients. They envision an ecosystem of ethical data usage; a world where data can both financially and technologically empower individuals. Their team is young and motivated, looking to create sustainable impact solutions for economically disadvantaged communities. They bring together expertise across multiple sectors including grassroots social impact, computer science, research and design. At Karya, they believe that it is every individual’s right to take ownership of their financial future and sustainability through fairly-compensated work. Manu also runs Chopra Foundation. They currently work in 1,000+ villages across India and they have moved over 100,000 rural Indians out of poverty in the last 2 years.
