What is Altruous?

Altruous is a new impact discovery and management platform for the next generation of philanthropy. Their mission is to drive funding and resources to the highest impact social and environmental impact programs in the world, tackling society's most urgent and important challenges.

Why Altruous?

The challenges we face as a global community aren't going anywhere. These days, they actually seem to be getting worse. The moral arc of the universe may bend towards justice, but if it does, it sure is taking its sweet time, and facing massive headwinds.

Nonprofits are ideally positioned to tackle these problems, yet they continue to be judged unfairly, and in ways that are antithetical to impact. They're subject to unpredictable funding cycles, arcane grant processes, and recently, a government that seems intent on undermining them in every way possible.

Having been in the impact sector for nearly 20 years, it's been painfully obvious how little has changed. Nonprofits still settle for substandard technology that looks like it was designed in the 1990s. They're still beholden to overhead as the main metric donors look at, and with the flood of competing messages people get through the news, tv, the internet, and social media, it's more challenging than ever to be heard and noticed by aligned funders.

That's where Altruous comes in. They conduct deep impact evaluation based on the depth and quality of impact, rather than low cost-per-outcome. The evaluation research is comprehensive, independent, context-aware, and in-line with the best practices of modern Learning & Evaluation.

The evaluations are summarized, and turned into engaging narratives to help funders quickly relate to the importance of the work being done, an understand the quantifiable impact created.

Just like Cause & Purpose, Altruous is a labor of love as much as it is a professional enterprise. It's my way of helping to transform a sector so badly in need of disruption. It's my way of supporting the great leaders doing the most impactful work on behalf of our global community. More than that though, its my way of delivering what I truly feel is my life's purpose - to help those people who are trying to help others, do so more effectively.
